On Friday 16th March, we welcomed grandparents from far and wide to our school. The junior and senior infants opened with a song for their Grandparents, ‘Today is for You!’ 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class recited a poem and showed us the beautiful art work they had created for their grandparents. 4th, 5th and 6th Class sang the traditional irish songs, ‘I’ll tell me Ma’ and ‘Molly Malone’. The Grandparents then participated in a question and answer session with the children. The children learned that some grandparents had to walk to school, bring sticks for the fire and some even learned how to knit and bake at school! The children learned a great wealth of information from this discussion! Sr Pauline concluding the celebration with a blessing of all our grandparents and also by remembering those who could not be with us on the day, especially those in heaven.
Thank you to our Parents Association who provided and served refreshments to our very deserving grandparents on the day!
