Land Paws – Water Safety Lessons

Uisce the Bear visited our school today along with Hannah and Ryan.

This team of water safety instructors from Kildare Water Safety came to the school to teach the Primary Aquatics Water Programme, also known as Land PAWS.

The children had a safety talk to ensure they are aware of the dangers around beaches, lakes and rivers. They learned about the safest places to swim and  showed that they were able to correctly identify the meaning of each of the water safety flags that our lifeguards use. There was also an opportunity for the children and teachers to try out throwing a life buoy at a target. This took lots of practice!

Well done to all to the children who achieved certificates of Land Paws 1 or 2 today. They were all given an information leaflet, pencil and stickers to help them to spread the water safety message.

Thank you to Kildare Water Safety for this timely and important safety lesson!
