The children from 2nd to 6th class enjoyed a wonderful day out today on their school tour accompanied by Mary Minahan, Ms Murphy, Mr Kane and Ms Corrigan. The sun was shining and following Ireland’s win against Italy last night the road to Dublin was very quiet!
Arriving in record time we had the opportunity to take a drive around Phoenix Park to see Áras an Uachtaráin, the Garda Headquarters and the American Embassy all ready to receive Joe Biden the US Vice President on his Irish visit.
With a few minutes extra to spare we managed to drop in to Collins Barracks for a quick snack and a look at the fully restored Asgard, a ship used to supply arms to the 1916 Rebellion.
Then it was straight in to our capitals’ main street to the GPO’s 1916 exhibition. The children loved the interactive exhibits and the fantastic movie of the Easter events one hundred years ago.
Our final stop was the National Aquatic Centre in Blanchardstown. Here the children had great fun in the Aquazone: trying the Master Blaster, Green Giant and Dark Hole slides, relaxing in the lazy river, jumping in the waves in the wave pool and even trying out a bit of body boarding.
After some refuelling it was time to head home. There were plenty of sleepy heads on the bus as you can see from the photos below!
