On Friday 15th January, Karen Moore (travel officer for our school) visited us. She carried out a walk-ability audit with the committee. This was to give the committee an idea of how safe it is to walk to school. We investigated the locations of footpaths, speed ramps and road signage on our journey. We identified some areas where improvements could be made. The committee looked at possible places that may be suitable for ‘Park and Stride’.
On return to the school, the committee had the opportunity to carry out some action planning on the travel theme. The children worked in groups to identify three aims that we would like to achieve. They would like to:
1. Increase the amount of people ‘Parking and Striding’.
2. Increase the amount of people ‘Car Pooling’.
3. Increase the amount of speed bumps, signs and footpaths near our school.
With your help, we hope to achieve our aims!
